Travis Goethel- Linebacker Oakland Raiders | 2010 NFL draft pick

April 24th, 2010

travis-goethel-raiders-linebacker-arizona-state-draftSo the Raiders drafted this Guy, Travis Goethel. Goethel is a linebacker from Arizona State. That is Travis Goethel’s Facebook picture on the left. Note to Raiders Fans: Either hide your Saint Nick accoutremements and spiked eggnog now, or appreciate the fact that most of us douchebags occassionally wear something incredibly retarded to say a… “hideous Christmas sweater party” because its funny. If Al Davis knew Goethel truly didn’t give a shit, he might have traded up to select this kinsmen.

According to the NFL draft gurus, Goethel was a highly productive, three-year starter for the Sun Devils with some upside…

“ He has a good combination of size and strength with above-average athleticism. He is a very instinctive player who is quick to react as plays unfold. Goethel is a tough, hard-nosed defender who attacks downhill with purpose but lacks great pop and power on contact. He can be solid in zone coverage but doesn’t have great burst and quickness to be effective in pure zone schemes. Goethel is likely to contribute on special teams as well as giving depth at the linebacker position at the next level.”

More completely random non-football Travis Goethel crap (the draft is slowing down faster than Mayocks voicebox)…

This would be Goethel’s award for being an all “HairAmerican” from a house rock built blog post…

Travis Goethel is a no-brainer Hairmerican, but he’s also the distinguished recipient of the inaugural Spicoli Award, which goes to the white guy with the goofiest long blonde hair (last year’s retroactive winner, Trent Pupello, ended up transferring from Florida over concerns that the coaching staff was not effectively using his Fabio-esque hair).

Here’s a Travis Goethel video clip from his NFL combine workout.

Jason Campbell: Redskins trade quarterback to Oakland Raiders

April 24th, 2010

jason-campbell-raiders-jamarcus-russellThe Jason Campbell era has begun in Oakland, proving again that the Raiders have gone COMPLETELY FUCKING INSANE! This time though it feels very different… in an Oprah worthy 48-hour Oakland Raiders makeover not yet concluded, the Raiders have instilled a 180-degree attitude and personell overhaul of truly epic proportions.

“Help me me Jason Campbell Kenobi, you’re my only hope…”

With the direction the Oakland Raiders have taken in the 2010 NFL draft it is now crystal clear, Jamarcus Russel is officialy on notice…  The message to the overly calm cool and collected Russell reads as such…

Jamarcus Russell: as of April 24th 2010, you are hereby officialy on notice. Get with your TEAMmates and work very very hard, or get the fuck out.

… Washington traded the five-year veteran quarterback to the Raiders this afternoon. Details were not immediately available, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Redskins would receiver Oakland’s fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft in exchange for Campbell.

Here is a Jason Campbell video clip by former Redskins coach Jim Zorn, Zorn discusses Jason Campbell as a fit in his West Coast offense. The 6’5″ 230lb Campbell does not fit the Bill Walsh bred WCO, he fits our deep passing vertical game “east coast” offense much better… you’re free Jason… fling it far, fling it far!!!

“I’m just glad the situation is over and I’m moving forward,” Campbell said this afternoon. “Sometimes change comes in jamarcus-russell-jason-campbell-raiders-redskinsyour life, change comes in your career, and you’ve just got to be ready to adapt. I’m going to go out to Oakland and give 110 percent and do everything I can to help that organization become a winning team.

“Obviously, that was my goal here. Of course, a lot of things happened and we weren’t able to accomplish that goal. But hopefully this time around it’ll happen. I just wish the best of luck to the Redskins, and I’m moving forward in my career and my life. This is a great opportunity for me, and that’s the way I’m looking at it.”

A career in Washington that began five years ago with so much promise now moves westward. Campbell’s future here was immediately cast in doubt when the team acquired Donovan McNabb from Philadelphia earlier this month. He skipped the team’s first minicamp this month and received permission from Washington Coach Mike Shanahan to pursue a trade.

“I talked to [Raiders owner] Al Davis, and he said he wants me there. That means a lot to me,” Campbell said. “I’m ready to get to work.”

The Redskins had previously acquired Rex Grossman as a free agent to serve as the team’s backup this season.

Campbell, who earned $2.857 million during his final year in Washington, was a restricted free agent and signed his tender earlier this month with the Redskins for $3.14 million. He earned nearly $11 million in salary and bonuses in his five seasons with the Redskins.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Campbell has agreed to a contract that will pay him $3.14 million in 2010, plus a $100,000 workout bonus, and $4.5 million in 2011.

In Oakland, Campbell should have a chance to start, as he joins an impressive group of quarterbacks that includes JaMarcus Russell, Charlie Frye, Kyle Boller and Bruce Gradkowski.

Campbell was a first-round pick by Joe Gibbs in 2005 – the draft’s 29th overall selection. The Redskins traded up to get him, giving away three picks, including their 2006 first-round selection. He was almost immediately anointed the team’s quarterback of the future and after holding the clipboard for a year, he took over the starting job midway through 2006 season.

He’s been the team’s top quarterback since then and has started its last 32 games. No quarterback has started more games for the Redskins since Mark Rypien led the huddle from 1989 to ’93.

Even as the Redskins rotated offensive coordinators, Campbell saw his offensive numbers steadily rise each of the past three seasons, even as the offensive line in front of him struggled.

Last year, Campbell finished the season with career highs in completions (327), completion percentage (64.5), yards (3,618), yards per completion (7.1), touchdowns (20) and quarterback rating (86.4).

He also threw a career-high 15 interceptions and was sacked 43 times, more than all but two other NFL quarterbacks.

During his 52-game career in Washington, Campbell threw for 10,860 yards and 55 touchdowns. He is the team’s sixth all-time in yardage, fifth in completions, second in completion percentage.

The team reached the playoffs twice while Campbell was a Redskin, though Mark Brunell was the quarterback in 2005 and Todd Collins played in place of an injured Campbell in 2007.

Walter Mcfadden Raiders Cornerback – Video | Bio Profile

April 24th, 2010

Much like Kevin Costner running amok in an Iowa cornfield, this 2010 Raiders “draft of dreams” makes almost as little Auburn Cornerback Walter Mcfadden - Raiders Draft picksense (who the fuck cares, right?  just don’t stop the sweet music) to some of us. The fantasy that Al Davis and the Raiders could draft “football guys”  over the very un-Gladiator like combine warriors of the infamous “underwear olympics” is absurd; especially to Raiders fans with short memories. So the pick of another playmaker with COLLEGE PRODUCTIVITY is simply stunning. Editors note: I have ALWAYS believed Al Davis has an incredible eye for talent, it’s just that he swings for the fences more than most would ever dare. That said, allow me to introduce…

Walter Mcfadden Auburn Cornerback – 5th round Oakland Raiders 2010 NFL Draft Pick

The Oakland Raiders drafted Walter Mcfadden, a playmaking cornerback from Auburn with the 138th pick of the 5th round.

This Walter Mcfadden Video clip highlight is a great example of Mcfadden’s playmaking ability…

****Holy Shit…… Jason Campbell is now a Raider!!!!  (Schefter just reported it as a “done deal”)

This day is crdazy and only getting better, it’s a brave new world Raiders Fans, it’s going to be fun.

Jamarcus Russell: as of April 24th 2010, you are hereby officialy on notice. Get with your TEAMmates and work very very hard, or get the fuck out.

More on Walter Mcfadden…

AUBURN – Walter McFadden’s six interceptions last season weren’t good enough to get an invitation to the NFL Combine two weeks ago.

Tuesday, he made up for lost time.

McFadden turned a faster time in the 40-yard dash during Auburn’s Pro Day than all his fellow cornerbacks did at the combine in Indianapolis. His consecutive runs of 4.40 and 4.39 backed up his seasons-long, good-natured claims that he was one of the fastest Tigers around.

Thirty-eight pro scouts clicked off the hundredths of a second to see it for themselves.

“Everybody was saying that I ran well,” McFadden said. “A lot of scouts came up to me saying a lot of great things.”

McFadden knows his way around the NFL draft. He watched his brother, Bryant McFadden, get drafted by Pittsburgh in 2005. His brother spent last season with Arizona.

Auburn’s McFadden said he’s heard draft speculation he might go from early in the third round to late in the fifth. Indeed, he entered Pro Day behind two higher-profile teammates in running back Ben Tate and defensive end Antonio Coleman.

They participated in the NFL Combine. Not McFadden.

“My brother been on me about it. My family’s been on me about it,” McFadden said. `”But some things just happen for a reason. I believe this day just happened for me just to come out and show my skills.”

McFadden said he entered the day feeling like “an underdog.”

“It’s just a matter of time for me to overcome it.”

McFadden was fast, but talked about his other numbers. He said “a lot of guys” thought he was 5-foot-10, 170. He checked in at 5-11, 181.
