Raji meet Haji – Banaszak shows some Donkey Love

April 18th, 2009
  • the highly anticipated “stoners – tweakers- ’roiders” list gets sent to teams next week according to a PFT source, either with BJ Raji’s name included if you’re Sports Illustrated, or sans Raji if you’re his agents at Athletes First.
  •

  • Warren Sapp’s stock plummeted on news that he had tried the Spacecakes at the U, en route to a potential HOF career… which may never have happened if Barret Robbins didn’t go AWOL on Tijuana margaritas.
  •

  • Reminds me of a great NFL name… Ali Haji-Sheikh , who still holds the long FG record for the G-men at 56 yards.
  •

  • Madden again says no mas to Raiders consulting role… and Evander Holyfield has also retired… and Brett Favre…
  •

  • I believe “it’s the itch” that keeps ‘em coming back… sailboats and golf courses sound great until September rolls around.
  •

  • As discussed in an earlier post, only Jim Marshall’s D will run the 4-3 in the West this season… that HAS TO BE AN ADVANTAGE for us.
  •

  • Remember when it seemed only Pittsburgh could utilize those ‘tweeners properly, and would stockpile mid-sized talent, well the 4-3 seems to be heading the way of the Grizzly in the West, if not the entire NFL.
  •

  • Interesante… The top three pass rushers form last season are outside linebackers from 3-4 defenses. Dallas’ DeMarcus Ware (19), Miami’s Joey Porter (17.5) and Pittsburgh’s James Harrison (15) have 51.5 sacks between them. The top three pass rushers from 4-3 defenses — Atlanta’s John Abraham (15.5), Minnesota’s Jared Allen (14.5) and Carolina’s Julius Peppers (12.5) — all are defensive ends and have 42.5 sacks between them.
  •

  • More 4-3 vs. 3-4 from Pat Kirwan of NFL.com, a great read.
  •

  • Amidst all the 3-4 to the rescue hype, you wonder if a rebellious team will succesfully buck the trend and go old school “Riggins behind the Hogs” with a massive line and power rushing attack???

  • Banaszak on Madden… “He knew how to handle guys like myself,  he had to threaten if we didn’t get our act together he would send us to Buffalo.”  …you feelin’ me T.O.?
  •

  • Totally feeling you Pete, from Raiders.com… “Kansas City battled us pretty good but, I always enjoyed going up to Denver. We didn’t lose to them too many times, maybe a few times. I still dislike the Broncos. I don’t like anything about them or Kansas City.” …is it me or are harps playing softly in the background.

  • Article: Chargers woo L.A. Fans… hello Oil, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Water.
  •

  • Don’t wory Dolt fans, the southbound migration of fans is GUARANTEED to happen once a year, despite your completely puss-assed “only for the Raiders game” ticketing policy. How does your tail feel tucked between your legs Spanos?
  •

  • Can you even fathom a special “Chargers game only” set of rules for ticketing at the Coliseum… assinine.

Bongloads for BJ?

April 7th, 2009
  • “I Did not have relations with that Purple Urkel” said Phelps err BJ Raji. Raji has come to his own defense now, and put himself on the spot should he indeed show up on the dreaded STONERS  & TWEAKERS list submitted to the NFL after the combine testings. Rumors of his impending Dorito’s EXtreme deal being placed on hold, are just that.
  •

  •  Burress in Black: enoughs been said already on the pros/cons, but one thing is now clear. A Glock, which has no external safety mechanism (relying on a “safe action” trigger instead) is a poor choice to pair with your Russell Athletics, sorry plax.
  •

  •  gem from Mike Florio (profootballtalk.com)  Marcus Johnson will wear No. 78 in Oakland; a number has not yet been assigned to Garcia, who most recently wore the digit that coincides with the name of George Costanza’s unborn child. “Seven”… classic. Calzone anyone?
